How to Measure Yourself?

We have prepared a short guide on how to measure yourself correctly, along with a size chart designed to help every woman find her perfect fit. This is especially useful for online shopping (webshops, sales platforms, group orders), ensuring that you won’t have to deal with unnecessary costs of returns or exchanges. Likewise, retailers (especially online stores) can confidently rely on our chart when advising customers about sizing accuracy.

Bra Fitting Guide

Underbust Measurement

We start here, as the correct underbust measurement is the foundation of a good fit. This measurement supports most of the weight of your bust. Shoulder straps or cups cannot provide proper support if the band is too loose – or too tight. Take this measurement firmly, so that the bra you choose will stay in place. Size charts usually show a single number that covers a range in cm. For example, size 75 in our chart corresponds to an underbust range of 73–77 cm. At BARBARA LINGERIE we generally do not recommend choosing a smaller band size than measured, though exceptions exist. If the difference between bust and underbust is significant, you may consider going down one band size to provide stronger support. In such cases, it’s up to you to decide what feels most comfortable.

Bust Measurement

This measurement determines your cup size. The difference between bust and underbust gives the exact cup designation. With both measurements, you can easily determine your size using our chart. We suggest measuring your bust while wearing a soft bra without padded cups. Lean slightly forward and measure across the fullest part of your bust, ensuring the tape sits at the same level on both your chest and back (when standing straight, the tape should be horizontal). The tape should rest smoothly against your body without compressing. The measurement taken while leaning forward is your bust circumference.

With these two values, return to the size chart. Example: for an underbust of 75 and a bust of 90 cm, look vertically down the “75” column until you find the 89–91 cm range. In this case, the cup is C. Your size is 75C.

Where Do Cup Letters Come From?

The difference in centimeters between bust and underbust defines the cup size as follows:
12–14 cm → Cup A
14–16 cm → Cup B
16–18 cm → Cup C
18–20 cm → Cup D
20–22 cm → Cup E
22–24 cm → Cup F
24–26 cm → Cup G

Adjusting the Straps

Straps should be slightly firm, without digging into the shoulders. If they are too loose, they won’t lift the bust and all the support will shift to the underband, reducing comfort. The correct strap length is when two fingers (index and middle) fit comfortably between the strap and your shoulder.
